As described in the Serious eLearning Manifesto, the field of e-learning needs leadership and direction. In short, it needs to move from “text and next” to engaging interactions that build skills. Interactive games demonstrate both the ability of interactive media to fully engage users and also delineate structures that can be applied in learning contexts for very successful outcomes.
It is our hope that tomorrow’s instructional designers will lead the way to far more effective e-learning than has become typical.
To assist in this evolution, Allen Interactions is exploring a very new type of authoring tool in hopes of making development of more effective learning experiences within reach of more organizations and individuals.
ZebraZapps is a new generation authoring and publishing platform. It was built from the ground up for data-driven visual interactivity. It is suitable for the construction of a large variety of interactive games, but does not require the author/developer to learn and use a scripted programming language. It does, however, require a different mindset to learn.
